University Paris Descartes covers all the knowledge in human sciences and health. It is the only university in Paris bringing together medicine, pharmacy and dentistry, its healthcare division is recognized in Europe and worldwide for the excellence of its research. Created in 1928, the University of sports science is one of the 9 components of the University Paris Descartes. It hosts 1,100 students each year and prepares students for careers in physical education, sport and adapted physical activities.

The Laboratory Techniques and Challenges Corps (TEC) aims to encourage the development of research on traditional games and sports at the University Paris Descartes. It intends to energize and unite the activity of its members (n = 40), while taking on a thematic identity in their work.  This laboratory researches the cultural anchor of traditional sporting games and their contribution to well-being and health.

The UFR STAPS Faculty has organized a great number of international scientific events on traditional games and sports, and has significant scientific production in this area (PhD Thesis, books, book chapters, articles).
